Carina is a young lady who went from dance to bodybuilding. Learning to love leg day and getting into bikini fitness contests, Carina has been transforming her body and prepare herself for the 2016 season. Not only is she into the sport of bodybuilding, but she also does powerlifting as well. It will be a blast to see what Carina does next on the stage and plateform.
How old are you, where are you from, and do you squat ass to grass?
I’m 24 years old, and I’m from Norway. And I live right outside of Oslo 🙂 And yes, I squat ass to grass 💪😄
What areas of weight training do you train? And what is your best squat?
I’m mostly training bodybuilding. And sometimes I do powerlifting as well 🙂 And of course, I do a lot of cardio the months before competition to get shredded. My personal record in squats is 115 kg – 5 rep 😄💪
Where do you train? Do you have a lifting team or partner?
I train at 24 fitness, and that is also the team I’m competing for. And I also train at a place called PåTreninga. I’m always training whit my best friend 🙂 And when we are training at 24 fitness, we are training with one of our coaches 😀
How did you into bodybuilding?
I have been training dance all my life, so training has been a big part of my life, but it was my best friend that got me into bodybuilding:) she had started to work out and asked me if I wanted to try bikini fitness. First I said no, but when I started to lift weights I thought it was so much fun! And I just got totally addicted! So then I wanted to try bikini fitness, I absolutely love it, and I love the way I can transform my body by training bodybuilding:)
What does a normal leg day workout look like for you?
A normal leg day always starts whit some warm up exercises to get good contact with the muscles. And normally we do leg press, squats (a lot of different kinds of squats), deadlifts, kickbacks, glute bridge, hip thrust, lunges (different kinds). I’m training legs at least 2 times a week, so sometimes I have one workout with a focus on glutes and hamstring, and sometimes the focus is on the quads 🙂 I’m working really hard to get better legs to my next competition because legs and glutes are really important in bikini fitness.
So what’s next for you? Any goals you have to hit? (short and long term)?
My next goal is to get in a good shape for my next competitions this spring. I really want to beat the shape I had last time I was on stage. So now it’s a lot of hard work the next couple of months 🙂 And of course, I want to get a better placement on the Spring competitions! 🙂 And long time goals. Build my body even better, so continue to train hard and of course competing. I love being on stage! I want to see how good I can get, and how good my shape can get. My biggest dream is to stand on stage in Arnold Classic and Olympia 🙂 But that’s a couple of years whit hard work before I can do that! 🙂
When you lift heavy, when was the first time you out lifted a guy? And what do your non-lifter friends think about what you do?
I haven’t really been thinking about if I have out lifted a guy, maybe I have, 😂 most of my friends are supportive of what I do! 🙂 But I think many of them are really thinking that I’m a little bit crazy as well:p When you don’t lift and train like I do, I think it’s hard to understand how much time and effort I put in my workouts and everything else around it. My diet and everything. But I’m so thankful for the friends I have that support me 😀 Especially my best friend which I’m doing this with 😀
What do you tell women who think lifting heavy makes you look “manly”?
Well, I have heard from so many people that training and gaining muscle mass makes girls look like boys… But honestly, I don’t think that at all 🙂 I tell them that I think it looks nice with women who have muscles:) But, it’s a lot of different options out there :p
Anything you would like to tell the younger lifters? and/or anything else you would like to add?
Well, I would like to tell them to enjoy the training and enjoy every step of the transformation the body goes through 🙂 Building your body takes time, so don’t take any shortcuts! Eat healthily and train good 😄 And maybe give yourself some goals, for example out lift a guy or going on stage, that makes the training funnier and it’s always funny to achieve your goals 😀
